• New Denver safety Brian Dawkins won the Byron "Whizzer" White Award on Thursday night at the National Football League Players Association Gala in Washington, D.C., the Broncos announced.
The award goes to the NFL player who best served his team, community and country. It is one of the most prestigious awards NFL players can receive.
Dawkins signed with Denver this offseason after spending the 13 season in Philadelphia. He was considered a pillar of the Philadelphia community.
