A 7-7 game has produced 24 points since the 14:47 mark of the second quarter. Kansas City leads 24-14 with 2:58 to go in the third quarter.
Kansas City just went on a long drive that resulted in a field goal to take a 10-point lead. It was a nice answer to the Texans’ best drive of the game.
Kansas City coach Todd Haley said Thursday that he was worried about Houston’s big-play capability.
After holding the Texans down in the first half and on their first drive of the third quarter, Houston struck with a 38-yard touchdown run by Derrick Ward to cut the Chiefs’ lead to 24-14.
Kansas City took a 14-point lead when Matt Cassel hit Dwayne Bowe for a beautiful 42-yard catch-and-run touchdown. Cassel and Bowe are bouncing back well after playing poorly last week in a loss to the Colts. Cassel has thrown two touchdown passes to Bowe.
If the Chiefs are going to hold on and win this important game, it looks like Bowe and Cassel may have to hook up again.
