Succop was 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts and accounted for a career-high 16 points, sparking a 22-17 win over Minnesota. It was the Chiefs’ first win of the season. Succop showed a huge leg in the game as he nailed field goals of 54 and 51 yards in the win.
The game was vital for Succop. He entered struggling, so his performance was a major relief for the Chiefs.
In other AFC West news, the Professional Football Researchers Association has announced former Oakland receiver Cliff Branch has been elected in the Hall of Very Good. The group honors players and coaches who had accomplished careers, yet who are not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It began in 2002.
Branch won three Super Bowls as a member of the Raiders from 1972-85. Nine people were elected this year, including coach Lou Saban, who coached the Broncos from 1967-71.
