The Kansas City Chiefs' inactivity in free agency ended Tuesday when the team signed cornerback Travis Daniels. The team didn't disclose the terms.

Denver was also interested in the Cleveland player. Daniels spent his first three seasons in Miami. He was a fourth-round draft choice out of LSU.

Daniels has 26 career starts. He will compete for a starting job with second-year players Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr. It would not be a surprise if Daniels ends up being the nickel cornerback behind Flowers and Carr who showed promise as rookies.

The Chiefs still have needs at safety, linebacker, and on the defensive side of the ball as well as help on the offensive line. Until signing Daniels, Kansas City, which has a ton of salary cap room remaining, traded for Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel without making any significant news in free agency despite bringing in a few veterans.
