Three things to look for in San Diego’s game at Arizona on Saturday night. Kickoff is set for 10 p.m. ET:
1. Ryan Mathews: The Chargers want Mathews to be their primary running back this season. Mike Tolbert will get his carries, but the Chargers want to rely on Mathews, who is entering his second season. Mathews played well last week against Dallas. He will likely get his most significant playing time of the preseason. He needs to keep the arrow pointing upward.
2. Hold onto the ball: San Diego coach Norv Turner has said not committing turnovers will be the key to his team avoiding a slow start. The Chargers didn’t turn the ball over last week. It will be a confidence builder if they can continue to show strong ball security in this game.
3. Corey Liuget and Vaughn Martin: The young defensive lineman both played well against Dallas. Let’s see what they do in this game. The Chargers’ strong defense would love to see these two become solid contributors.
