Patrick Peterson enjoyed Pro Bowl format

2/3/2014

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Even though Team Sanders lost the Pro Bowl by one point to Team Rice, Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson became a fan of the new format for the NFL’s annual All-Star game.

Instead of playing NFC vs. AFC, the NFL decided to have Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders act as captains and draft teams. Three of the four Cardinals chosen for the game were on Team Rice. Only Peterson was on Team Sanders.

“I thought it was cool,” Peterson said. “I thought it was different. I enjoyed my stay. I think it got the fans more involved. I think that having the captains kinda got it a little more hyped, especially having personalities like Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders. There’s nothing like it.

“But I thought it was a great game. I was hoping that we came out on top. It was still a great experience.”

Peterson had an interception in the second quarter and was almost instantly greeted by Sanders, one of his idols. Sanders told his protege that Team Rice shouldn't have tested him.

“It was great playing for Deion. Me and Deion are close friends, we always have a blast each and every time we hook up.”
