When Abraham returned to the Arizona for offseason workouts he handed out about 10 books by motivational author John C. Maxwell, who Abraham calls a friend, to his teammates -- including one to safety Tyrann Mathieu.
One of Abraham's favorite books is "The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership," by Maxwell. He stays away from recommending long novels, opting to give his teammates books they can read during lunch.
"More like easy to read and stuff that help motivate you," Abraham said. "Not no gospel books. Like self-help books.
"Give me something to help me become a better player."
Another favorites is "Who Moved My Cheese?: An Amazing Way to Deal with Change in Your Work and in Your Life," by Spencer Johnson.
"I bought 'Who Moved My Cheese?' for a few of my teammates, too, because they don’t know what their position will be," Abraham said. "It's one, two, three. It's easy to ready, in like 30 minutes. It's not like no thick books.
"First of all, you're trying to learn your playbook."
It was fitting that while Arizona Cardinals linebacker John Abraham was talking about leadership that he mentioned handing out books on the same topic to his teammates.
