“That’s well-deserved,” Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said. “And I don’t think that’s going to be his last one. Hopefully, they get tired of giving it to him.”
Peterson’s first interception helped the Cardinals tie the Bucs a 10 and his second allowed Arizona to kick a game-winning field goal.
This is Peterson’s first defensive player of the week award and it complements the two special teams player of the week nods he earned during his rookie year in 2011.
Peterson joins Calais Campbell as the players in Cardinals’ history to win player of the week awards in two different categories. Campbell earned the defensive award last season and the special-teams honor in 2009.
Could Peterson round out the triple crown and earn a player of the week honor on offense?
“We’re hoping,” Arians said. “That’s my next goal.”
