Flush the Pocket: Bid for date with Bethel

By Josh Weinfuss

Flush the Pocket will be your daily morning dose of the Arizona Cardinals. It’ll recap the top story line from the previous day and give you a look at what everyone is saying locally and nationally.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- A tweet caught my attention Tuesday.

It was about the most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes in Phoenix, so naturally, I was curious if I was on the list -- a man can hope, right? I clicked on the link from Arizona Foothills magazine and it was for an event called Date for a Cause. People bid on dates and the proceeds benefit New Pathways for Youth.

I started to browse through the pages and noticed they were full of attractive men and women, and I anxiously awaited finding my mug staring back at me -- again, a man can hope, right? Then there was a picture that jumped out at me.

It was of Arizona Cardinals gunner Justin Bethel.

Bethel is expected to be among the bachelors auctioned off. He answered questions to give potential bidders more information about himself. When asked why he’d be a good date, Bethel said he’s a good time.

“I am a VERY fun guy,” Bethel said, according to the magazine's website. “You are going to laugh, hopefully it will be an experience you will remember. I am a person that you will enjoy to be around, at least that's what they tell me!”

On the event’s website, it says that safety Rashad Johnson will also be auctioned off. Mentioned in the Arizona Foothills’ article as a participating bachelorette was Keyonne Campbell, sister of Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell.

But as much as I looked, my picture was nowhere to be found.
