FTP: Cards land on PFF All-Pro team

Flush the Pocket will be your daily morning dose of the Arizona Cardinals. It'll recap the top storyline from the previous day and give you a look at what everyone is saying locally and nationally.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona Cardinals landed two players on Pro Football Focus' All-Pro team.

Rookie safety Tyrann Mathieu was named the slot cornerback and gunner Justin Bethel was honored with the special teams nod.

Mathieu's versatility made up for the fact that he missed the last three games due to a knee injury.

"If we're going to have a slot receiver then we need a slot corner. In a heated discussion, the complete play of Mathieu -- who played base downs as a safety and moved to the slot in the Cardinals' nickel and dime packages -- won out despite him missing time toward the end of the season," PFF wrote.

As for Bethel, who made his first Pro Bowl this season, in just his second season out of Presbyterian College, the decision to name him to the All-Pro team is a no brainer.

"Bethel was superb and played in a way that made this the easiest of selections. They don't make special teamers like him," PFF wrote.

Patrick Peterson was named a second-team cornerback.
