Breaking down the Cards' salary cap: Linebackers

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Teams have less than a month to get their top 51 salaries under the 2015 cap, which has yet to be determined, by March 10, when the new league year begins.

The Arizona Cardinals' top 51 salaries are currently worth $148.9 million, with four players -- Larry Fitzgerald, Patrick Peterson, Calais Campbell and Carson Palmer -- eating up 45.4 percent of that sum.

Over the next few days, the Cardinals' salary-cap situation will be broken down here by position.

Daryl Washington

Cap hit: $6.5 million

Final season under contract: 2017

Cash value:$3.5 million

Notes: Washington is suspended until the NFL resinstates him, which isn't guaranteed to happen.

Alex Okafor

Cap hit: $703,607

Final season under contract: 2016

Cash value: $585,000

Notes: The Cardinals would save just $466,393 if they cut Okafor.

Matt Shaughnessy

Cap hit: $2.78 million

Final season under contract: 2015

Cash value: $2.075 million

Notes: Shaughnessy will receive a $500,000 roster bonus on the fifth day of the league year.

Lorenzo Alexander

Cap hit: $2 million

Final season under contract: 2015

Cash value: $1.55 million

Notes: Alexander is eligible for a $50,000 roster bonus in the final year of his contract.

Kevin Minter
