Former running back Gerald Riggs will be inducted into the Atlanta Falcons’ Ring of Honor, the team announced Wednesday morning.

“Gerald Riggs is without question one of the greatest players in the history of our franchise,” owner Arthur Blank said. “He was one of the finest players of his time and left an indelible mark on this club as our all-time leading rusher.”

Riggs will be inducted at halftime of the Oct. 7 game against the New York Jets.

Riggs was a three-time Pro Bowler in his seven seasons with Atlanta and gained 6,631 rushing yards in that span.

Riggs will join William Andrews, Steve Bartkowski, Mike Kenn, Claude Humphrey, Tommy Nobis, Deion Sanders, Jessie Tuggle and Jeff Van Note in the Ring of Honor.
