NFLN survey/feared player: Falcons

By Vaughn McClure

It’s no surprise most players voted for Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh as the most feared player in the NFL. His name has been mentioned a time or two within the Atlanta Falcons' locker room.

I would fear Suh, too, if I knew there was a chance he could end my career with a cheap shot, as he has developed a reputation for doing. Just ask Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub or Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith. They both got their kicks hanging around Suh.

Personally, I once witnessed Suh slap Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to the ground, so I know how much anger he plays with on the field. At the same time, most folks would be surprised how polite and engaging Suh is once you get him one-on-one in the locker room.

This survey, however, wasn’t about off-the-field presence. On the field, Suh makes his presence felt, whether you like him or not.

And by the way, the Falcons get a chance to see Suh up close next season when the Falcons face the Lions in London (Oct. 26). Matt Ryan had better hope he has better protection by then.
