Mound Visit: Getting to know Orioles prospect Dylan Bundy

It's been a long road for Dylan Bundy. After being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles fourth overall in 2011 and zooming through the minors the following year, he's battled injuries. Despite making his major league debut in 2012 at the age of 19, he's pitched less than 200 innings as a pro, nearly all of them coming down on the farm. Now that he's healthy (and out of minor-league options), he's ready to properly introduce himself to big-league hitters. In the meantime, allow us to introduce him to you.

Favorite flick: "I've been getting into the 'Divergent' series. It's kind of like 'Hunger Games.' I've seen 'Divergent' and 'Insurgent.' This summer they're coming out with 'Allegiant.' 'Divergent' was the best -- I've seen it three times. The first one's always better in any series."

Music mania: "Carrie Underwood is one of my favorite performers. I like watching her. I'll tell everybody -- there's no shame. She performs well, she looks good, obviously she's a good singer. She's from Checotah, Oklahoma, which is about an hour and 15 minutes south of where I'm from in Sperry. "Blown Away" is my favorite song by her. I like to listen to it in my truck."

Offseason highlight: "Hunting with my brother and dad. We went out to our lease for two or three days and got to spend some quality time together, hunting some coyotes. It's about a three-hour drive. We have 5,000 acres out there that we rent because the owner doesn't hunt. He does oil and cattle, so he doesn't mind if we hunt. You can use a bow, but it's hard to get ‘yotes to stop for long. So I just use a rifle."

Hidden talent: "I'm still trying to figure that out. We have a talent show coming up later this month, so I gotta figure something out. Definitely not dancing, definitely not singing, so I got some work to do in the next two weeks. Maybe I'll do a skit with some other guys. There's like 15 of us doing it. It's one of Buck Showalter's things. He does it every year in spring training. For the record, Caleb Joseph does a great impression of Buck."

Guilty pleasure: "Justin Bieber. He's different, but he's good at what he does, and I listen to him. I just don't like to tell people that."

Spring training transit: "I drove my Ford F-150 here from Oklahoma. It's 20 hours. I don't like to drive it straight, so I stopped about halfway, south of Birmingham. I didn't get to see the presidential debates live, so I listened to them on YouTube while I was driving. I'm definitely on the Republican side. It's a crazy race. I've never seen it like this."

Most embarrassing moment: "Middle school. Sixth grade. I was playing basketball, and you know those sweatpants that have the buttons on the side and you can just snap them off? Well I always wore my shorts underneath those pants. But one time, I didn't have my shorts on, or any underwear. So I was going to rip my pants off for the game but there wasn't anything underneath. By the time I got half-ripped, I realized I didn't have any pants on. So I had to wear my sweatpants during the game. I didn't like that. Every time I went up for the ball or somebody tried to steal the ball from me, they'd rip a button or two off and I had to button them back up. Folks saw some skin."

Biggest obstacle: "The death of my mom. That was the year I had to get Tommy John surgery, so that was definitely a tough time. Tommy John was in June of 2013, and then in December my mom passed. She was sick, but we didn't really know until the last two or three months. It was tough. ... But I came back. You just gotta trust and pray, and know that everything will be alright."
