A weekly examination of the Ravens' ESPN.com Power Ranking:
Preseason: 8 | Last Week: 18 | ESPN.com Power Ranking since 2002
When you think about the Baltimore Ravens' weekend -- a two-hour delay due to a tornado watch and general manager Ozzie Newsome being hospitalized -- dropping a couple of spots in the Power Rankings isn't the worst news of the week. The overtime loss at Chicago moved the Ravens to No. 20, which is their second-worst ranking of the season. Baltimore was No. 21 two weeks ago.
Their place in the rankings doesn't add up when you look at their results this season. The Ravens are ahead of the Cleveland Browns (No. 23) and Buffalo Bills (No. 25) despite losing to both teams and having the same number of wins as both of them. Among the teams with losing records, the Ravens are the third-highest-ranked team, behind the San Diego Chargers (No. 18) and Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 19).
As far as the AFC North goes, the Cincinnati Bengals jumped two spots to No. 8, the Browns dropped four spots to No. 23, and the Steelers climbed five spots to No. 19.
