Wake-up caw: Ravens' news and opinions

Another edition of my take on the Baltimore Ravens news for your wake-up caw ...

Headline: The Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston believes the Ravens made a mistake by not adding running back LeGarrette Blount, who signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Opinion: It's strange that the Ravens didn't make more of an effort to get Blount. His power running style was a good fit for the Ravens, and Blount came at a reasonable price ($3.85 million over two years).

Headline: Ravens backup offensive lineman Jah Reid pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of battery stemming from an altercation at a strip club in Key West, Fla. He is now scheduled for an April 30 pretrial conference on the docket of Judge Perry Fowler.

Opinion: The incident was apparently captured on video surveillance. This has become a bad offseason trend for the Ravens.

Headline: John Eisenberg, of the team's official website, lists offensive tackle, safety and running back as the Ravens' top remaining priorities.

Opinion: If the Ravens could address each of one of these needs in the first three rounds, it would be a productive draft. The Ravens will be a better team if they can upgrade from offensive tackle Rick Wagner and safety Darian Stewart as well as add more insurance at running back.

Headline: Bucky Brooks, of the NFL Network, sees the Ravens as the perfect marriage for Texas A&M wide receiver Mike Evans.

Opinion: Does anyone really see Evans falling to the Ravens at No. 17? Anyone? I can't see him getting past the Lions (No. 10), Titans (No. 11) or Rams (No. 13).
