Ravens' first cuts good sign for Rainey
By Jamison Hensley
The Baltimore Ravens' first cuts for the final major cutdown were a good sign that running back Bobby Rainey is going to make the team this year.
Running backs Anthony Allen and Delone Carter were among the 11 players released by the Ravens. Allen's fate was likely sealed when he fumbled at the one-yard line in the preseason finale. Carter struggled Thursday night in his first game action since being traded from Indianapolis for David Reed.
This likely indicates Rainey will be kept to back up Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce. Rainey was one of the stars of the preseason finale, scoring two touchdowns.
