Kansas, Insight Bowl tidbits

Here are a few bowl factoids heading into the Jayhawks' Insight Bowl appearance against Minnesota on Wednesday night.
Bowl record: 5-6
Current bowl streak: Won 2.
Most memorable bowl victory: Three takeaways led to 17 points as the Jayhawks earned a 24-21 victory over Virginia Tech in the 2008 Orange Bowl. The victory capped the Jayhawks' first BCS bowl victory and punctuated a landmark 12-1 season. The Jayhawks jumped to a 17-0 lead after the game's first 23 minutes and held on from there as Todd Reesing threw for 227 yards and a touchdown and rushed for a clinching score early in the fourth quarter.
Bitterest bowl loss: Penn State took advantage of a controversial 12th man penalty after initially failing on a game-winning two-point conversion to claim a 15-14 victory over the Jayhawks in the 1969 Orange Bowl. Kansas led for most of the game before Chuck Burkhart's TD run pulled the Nittany Lions within one with 15 seconds left. After Kansas stopped the two-point conversion, the Jayhawks were flagged for having too many men on the field. Bobby Campbell scored the two-point conversion on the next play after the penalty, capping Penn State's 11-0 season.
Best individual bowl performance: Jason Swanson threw for a school bowl-record 307 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Jayhawks' 41-13 victory over Houston in the 2005 Fort Worth Bowl. Swanson's big effort enabled the Jayhawks to roll up 29 first downs and 538 yards of total offense.
Record against Minnesota: The series is tied at 3-3. Kansas won the most recent meeting, 34-19, in Lawrence in 1973.
Common 2008 opponents: None
The number: 4. Kansas has qualified for four bowl games in the last six seasons. That represents a quarter of Kansas' bowl games. The other eight appearances came in the previous 56 seasons since Kansas' first bowl trip in 1948 to the Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech.
