The Web site prepticket.com compiled an interesting list of its top 25 college head coaches, based on the accomplishments of the past five seasons.

Four Big 12 coaches were listed among the top 25 with Oklahoma's Bob Stoops at No. 3, Texas' Mack Brown at No. 4, Texas Tech's Mike Leach at No. 19 and Kansas' Mark Mangino at No. 20.

No real surprises at the top of the list, although there were a couple of coaches I thought were a tad overrated -- namely Steve Spurrier and Paul Johnson. Spurrier is living off his success at Florida and Johnson has accomplished only one season at Georgia Tech. I also wasn't that impressed with his coaching performance against LSU.

On the underrated side, I think that Leach, Mike Riley and Jim Grobe all could have been boosted a little higher. None of these coaches have the inherent advantages that many of their conference counterparts have. What they have been able to accomplish at their present jobs has been phenomenal.

The list is up for scrutiny. Let me know what you think about it.

Here it is:

1. Urban Meyer, Florida
2. Pete Carroll, USC
3. Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
4. Mack Brown, Texas
5. Nick Saban, Alabama
6. Jim Tressel, Ohio State
7. Les Miles, LSU
8. Mark Richt, Georgia
9. Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech
10. Joe Paterno, Penn State
11. Bobby Bowden, Florida State
12. Mike Bellotti, Oregon
13. Rich Rodriguez, Michigan
14. Steve Spurrier, South Carolina
15. Paul Johnson, Georgia Tech
16. Dennis Erickson, Arizona State
17. Jim Grobe, Wake Forest
18. Jeff Tedford, California
19. Mike Leach, Texas Tech
20. Mark Mangino, Kansas
21. Gary Patterson, TCU
22. Houston Nutt, Mississippi
23. Mike Riley, Oregon State
24. Kyle Whittingham, Utah
25. Butch Davis, North Carolina
