ISU reserve linebacker Cameron Bell quitting team

Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads confirmed after his first spring practice that reserve linebacker Cameron Bell has quit the team.
Bell's fate appeared clear when he was not listed on the school's spring roster and his name failed to appear in ISU's preseason spring prospectus.
Rhoads did not give reporters any specific reason why Bell had quit the team.
"Cameron has a history of some traumatic family incidents," Rhoads told the Des Moines Register. "His family is awfully important to him and he thinks at this point in his life he needs to be near family."
Bell, a 6-foot-2, 230-pound junior from Round Rock Texas, played in all 12 of the Cyclones' games last season, making 19 tackles.
The Cyclones appear to be able to withstand his departure with the return of all three senior linebacker starters from last season -- middle linebacker Jesse Smith, weakside linebacker Fred Garrin and strongside linebacker Josh Raven.
