It will almost seem like old times April 11 at Owen Field.
A group of former Oklahoma standouts will participate in a flag football game that will precede the Sooners' Red/White game.
There will be some pretty big names, too, starting with Hall of Famers Barry Switzer and Joe Washington patrolling the sidelines as coaches. Hall of Fame tackle Tony Casillas will play in the flag game, along with Hall of Fame nominee Brian Bosworth.
Other players who have committed to participating include Charles Thompson, Stephen Alexander, Greg Moyer, Patrick Fletcher, Trent Smith, Renaldo Works, Ryan Daniel, Antonio Perkins, Wes Sims, Paul Thompson, D.J. Wolfe, Jacob Gutierrez, Tim Lasher, Dan Cody, Bubba Moses, Jowahn Poteat and Greg Dequasie.
Tickets are $5 if purchased before Tuesday, with the price rising to $10 after that date.
I can remember back in the day when there used to be Varsity-Alumni games in the spring that would feature former players squaring off against the current squad. But that has practice has ended over the last 30 years or so.
It still will be great seeing a bunch of former Sooner greats back in their element again. I wonder who will be the sorest from playing again on Sunday morning after the game.
