I don't know many more interesting coaches than Texas Tech's Mike Leach, who has filled notebooks and amused reporters during his nine-year tenure in Lubbock.
In case you might be missing a little Leach with the season still a couple of weeks away, take a quick listen to his recent appearance with TCU play-by-play voice Brian Estridge on the Galloway and Company show on 103.3 ESPN Radio in Dallas earlier this week.
Leach's best bit came early in the interview when he bemoaned his inability to watch much of the Olympics because of his training camp.
"I haven't seen much of the Olympics," Leach said. "I hear there have been some great women's sand volleyball matches I haven't been able to see."
Other topics during the free-ranging interview included Leach's planned trip to DFW Airport after the season, the excitement that developed with the arrival of new coordinator Ruffin McNeill and his recent vacation to Mexico.
"My wife got us a great deal on this place," Leach said. "I got on the computer and saw there had been no shark incidents there in 60 years. And then, in May, they had attacks by three sharks and two fatalities. The price went down a little based on potential water hazards after that."
