Former Texas A&M quarterback Stephen McGee put his spin on the controversial comments that Texas Tech coach Mike Leach made about his development while playing with the Aggies.

McGee, who won the Bowden Award from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, turned to Proverbs 26:4 from the Bible for his retort.

"There is a verse in Proverbs that says don't respond to a fool by its folly," McGee told the Dallas Morning News. "I believe that in all my heart."

Leach made headlines last week when he said that he was happy to see McGee drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round, showing that the team liked him better than his former coaches at A&M.

Those comments prompted a strong response from A&M coach Mike Sherman.

It only added to the simmering rivalry between the two schools. And likely prompted some discussion points for Leach and Sherman when they meet at the Big 12's coaches' meeting later this week in Phoenix.
