The NCAA approved the certification for 34 bowl games for the upcoming season. Eight have direct affiliations with the Big 12 if the conference can fulfill all of its obligations.
Here's a look at the bowls, dates, television networks and kickoff times for Big 12 bowl partners.
- Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, Monday Jan. 4, 2010, Glendale, Ariz., FOX, TBD.
- AT&T Cotton Bowl, Saturday Jan. 2, 2010, Arlington, Texas, FOX, 2 p.m. ET.
- Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, Wednesday Dec. 30, 2009, San Diego, ESPN, 8 p.m. ET.
- Valero Alamo Bowl, Saturday Jan. 2, 2010, San Antonio, ESPN, 9 p.m. ET.
- Brut Sun Bowl, Thursday Dec. 31, 2009, El Paso, Texas, CBS, noon ET.
- Insight Bowl, Thursday Dec. 31, 2009, Tempe, Ariz., NFL Network, 5:30 p.m. ET.
- Texas Bowl, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, Houston, NFL Network, 8 p.m. ET.
- Independence Bowl, Monday Dec. 28, 2009, Shreveport, La., ESPN, 5 p.m. ET.
And here's my best guess of what Big 12 teams will go to what bowls if I was predicting today.
- BCS title game (Rose): Texas
- Sugar Bowl: Oklahoma
- Cotton Bowl: Oklahoma State
- Holiday Bowl: Nebraska
- Alamo Bowl: Texas Tech
- Sun Bowl: Kansas
- Insight Bowl: Colorado
- Texas Bowl: Missouri
- Independence Bowl: No other Big 12 team will be bowl-eligible
Note: The Fiesta Bowl will not choose a Big 12 team after losing Texas to the national championship game. That's why I believe that Oklahoma will be heading to the Sugar Bowl.
