Texas among three schools with baseball-football success
Posted by ESPN.com's Tim Griffin
Here's a nugget showing some success from programs in football and baseball.
Only three schools had teams that have qualified for the NCAA Super Regionals in baseball and had a team in the top 10 nationally in football last season.
They are ...
Texas, Florida and TCU. The Longhorns and Horned Frogs meet in Austin beginning Saturday in a best of 3 series to determine who will advance to the College World Series.
The Longhorns are the Big 12's only team still alive in the baseball tournament. Texas is gunning to become the first Big 12 team to qualify for Omaha since Baylor, Nebraska and the Longhorns qualified for the College World Series in 2005. The Longhorns won the national championship that season.
In the ensuing football season, the Longhorns claimed the national title. They are the last Big 12 team to win the BCS championship.
