Leach doesn't flinch at early-season test

Texas Tech and Texas played a classic game last season in Lubbock that was won by the Red Raiders, 39-33. That game was so good that the rematch has been moved a few weeks earlier to Sept. 19 in Austin for the first conference game of the season.

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach isn't concerned about the difficulty of moving the game earlier, even though it will be the first road game for a retooled offense that will feature new starting quarterback Taylor Potts.

And despite the prospect of Potts starting his road career in a hostile stadium with more than 100,000 fans, Leach didn't sound concerned earlier this week.

"It's not really rocket science," Leach said. "The university felt like they could generate more money, and so that's what we [decided to do].

"Texas is challenging no matter when you play them, but we feel like we've got a good team. We just have to go out and play the best we can. I don't know how big an impact the timing of it has. Last year we played four top-15 teams back to back and that was tough, too."
