Five more Big 12 teams begin preseason practice Thursday, as half of the league will have started fall camp by the end of the day.

Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas State, Missouri and Oklahoma all start practices today, joining Oklahoma State.

The Sooners will begin their work as they attempt to become the first Big 12 team to claim four straight Big 12 championships.

Even though coach Bob Stoops doesn't like to throw around the term "dynasty," the Sooners have been able to claim such stature inside the conference.

BCS bowl games might be a different story. But at least in the Big 12, the Sooners have been the dominant program this decade. Stoops has claimed six Big 12 championships in his career. No other coach has won more than one.

And with the return of key players like Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford, defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and tight end Jermaine Gresham, the Sooners might be better than last year.

"Hopefully we can be a game or two better," Stoops said last week. "You have to go earn all of that, you have to get back with your team, get back out on the field and start competing and working to see truly where you are.

"But we have a chance to be every bit as good or, hopefully, maybe even a little better."
