Nebraska is in talks with Syracuse about resuming a previous series that still has Cornhusker fans rankled about the most recent game.
Syracuse notched a 17-9 victory over the then-No. 1 ranked Cornhuskers on Sept. 29, 1984.
The Syracuse Post-Standard reports today that Nebraska and Syracuse are talking about playing future games.
The Cornhuskers' schedule is full next season, so the earliest a game could come about would be 2011. Nebraska has home games scheduled with Western Kentucky, Idaho and South Dakota State in 2010 and a road game at Washington next season.
The Orange are one of the few teams with a series edge over the Cornhuskers, holding a 7-5 advantage including three of four games since 1957. The only Nebraska win during that period was 63-7 beatdown in Lincoln in 1983.
I think this would be a good series for both teams. Syracuse is a traditional power and it would give the Cornhuskers some needed exposure in another part of the country where they don't normally appear.
It would also hopefully beef up a Nebraska schedule that is stacked with three games with Sun Belt Conference opponents this season.
What do you think? Would this be a good series for the Cornhuskers to consider?
