Excitement in Norman, even early, is clear

NORMAN, Okla. -- I've taken my tour south a bit after spending yesterday in Stillwater.

I'm in Norman today checking out the defending Big 12 champion Sooners, and even though the season is still five months away, it's pretty clear the team and city are pretty excited for what they hope is a national-title run.

The Sooners are one of the favorites to win it all next season, and have a great chance to open the season as the preseason No. 1. Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops told ESPN this week that he and his program are used to the attention and embrace the hype.

I'll be spending a little time with him later today after talking to receiver Ryan Broyles today. I'll also meet with a few players after the Sooners finish off the ninth of 15 spring practices.

It should be another good day out in Big 12 country, and you can expect more coverage of the Sooners on the way.
