Call it Bill Snyder magic.

His offense from last year's seven-win team lost its two-year bellcow Daniel Thomas, who led the Big 12 in carries and rushes the last two seasons.

What does Snyder do?

Rally his team to a 5-0 start with a 24-17 win over Missouri, earning what may be a top 15 ranking come Sunday afternoon.

The Wildcats gave up two fourth-quarter touchdowns but iced the game with a clutch drive, highlighted by a one-handed catch by Andre McDonald to convert a 3rd-and-3 with an 18-yard gain.

John Hubert topped 100 yards for the Wildcats, but this was a gritty game that won Kansas State's way: on the ground. K-State ran the ball 50 times and threw it 16.

An early lead provided that luxury and Snyder's Cats took advantage. Kansas State's huge win (as three-point "underdogs," mind you) may mean something else, too: Is Oklahoma facing another big hurdle on the road it hopes leads to the national title game?

Kansas State travels to face Texas Tech and Kansas in consecutive weeks, but win there? Oklahoma may come to Manhattan to face a 7-0 Kansas State team in the top 10.

Look out.
