Time for our weekly checkup on the Big 12's new members. TCU was off last week, so it's just West Virginia today.
Record: 8-3 (4-2 Big East)
National rank: No. 23 in the BCS standings, No. 22 in the AP poll, No. 20 in the USA Today poll
Last result: Beat Pitt, 21-20, on Friday at home.
What to know: The Mountaineers may have had a rivalry finale of their own. They're leaving the Big East (in 2012, probably?) and the Backyard Brawl with Pitt may not come to the Big 12 with them. Either way, they rallied from a 10-point deficit to beat the Panthers, stopping Pitt on a late drive after taking the lead for good with 6:10 to play. The 17-7 halftime lead was erased when WVU allowed just 80 yards in the second half.
West Virginia sacked Tino Sunseri 10 times, including nine on the final 25 offensive plays in the game. That's pretty amazing. With a win next week, the Mountaineers can win a share of the Big East title and with some help, could still slide into the BCS.
