Baylor QB RG3: 'Probable' to face UT

11/27/2011

Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III is "probable" to play next week at home against Texas, school officials said Sunday.

Griffin suffered a concussion in Saturday's 66-24 win over Texas Tech after being hit as he slid near the end of the second quarter. The defender's shoulder and forearm hit Griffin's head and bounced it off the turf at Cowboys Stadium. Griffin returned after being attended to by trainers, running for a three-yard touchdown, but he did not play after halftime.

Griffin, a contender for the Heisman Trophy as the leader of the 8-3 Bears, has 3,678 yards passing with 34 touchdowns and five interceptions. He's also run for 612 yards and seven touchdowns.

Saturday, he was replaced by Nick Florence, who completed 9-of-12 passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Florence would presumably replace Griffin again if he's unable to play on Saturday.
