Baylor assistant takes head coaching job

Eastern Illinois has hired Baylor wide receivers coach Dino Babers as its new head coach, the school announced.

The longtime assistant coach was a member of former Eastern Illinois coach Bob Spoo's first staff in 1987. The Football Championship Subdivision school plays in the Ohio Valley Conference and went 2-9 this season.

Babers has been at Baylor since 2008. The Bears went 9-3 this season and are headed to the Valero Alamo Bowl.
