ARLINGTON, Texas -- Arkansas really seems to be responding to quarterback Ryan Mallett.
After three three-and-outs to start the game, Mallett and the Razorbacks have responded to claim a 14-10 lead early in the second quarter.
The biggest reason is because Mallett is throwing underneath Texas A&M's defense, usually hitting his running backs circling out of the backfield for short gains that have turned into larger ones because of their running abilities past the line of scrimmage.
Mallett overcame two early sacks to rebound, hitting Broderick Green on an 8-yard touchdown pass and then De'Anthony Curtis on a 6-yard TD pass on the fourth play of the second quarter.
After the early struggles, Mallett is growing comfortable in the pocket. A steady Texas A&M rush that was getting after him early seems to have subsided.
