I'm getting ready to dash away to Columbia, Mo., in a few hours for the Missouri-Nebraska game.
That huge Thursday night game is rightfully commanding most of the attention around the Big 12 this weekend.
But other prime games will be played as well.
Here are some links to get you ready for all of the league's action.
- Are SEC teams poaching into the Texas recruiting area? A survey conducted by the Birmingham News’ Doug Segrist indicates that eight of the 12 SEC teams have at least one player from Texas in their two-deep roster. Also, Segrist finds that Texas has more players on SEC teams (37) than any other state outside its geographic area.
- The Austin American-Statesman's staff ranks Missouri as the Big 12's biggest surprise so far with Oklahoma as the biggest disappointment.
- Kansas players tell the Lawrence Journal-World’s Tom Keegan how unruffled Mark Mangino was at halftime last season against Iowa State -- even as the Jayhawks faced a 20-0 deficit.
- The Kansas City Star’s Mike DeArmond writes about the importance of Missouri’s running attack in beating Nebraska.
- The Omaha World-Herald's Dirk Chatelain writes of the Shakespearean twist -- and we don't mean the Columbia pizza parlor, either -- of Blaine Gabbert playing against Nebraska.
- The Oklahoman’s Berry Tramel blogs about the strange signals he’s hearing from Sam Bradford.
- Dan Hawkins gives a critical evaluation of his son, Cody, to the Boulder Camera’s Kyle Ringo.
- Daniel Earnest writes in the Daily Texan that he badly wants the Longhorns’ video game-day introduction at Darrell K. Royal/Texas Memorial Stadium ramped up in the future.
- The San Antonio Express-News’ Mike Finger breaks down the underachieving Big 12 South Division.
- Has Nebraska recovered from its 2007 and 2008 blowout losses to Missouri? The St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Vahe Gregorian isn’t so sure.
