But they've got to have someone to throw to, right? KU needs receivers badly, and will learn next week if Justin McCay will make his debut for his home-state team this fall or fall 2013.
The NCAA will hear the case on Wednesday, and a decision is expected Wednesday or Thursday.
McCay, a 6-foot-2, 215-pounder was the nation's No. 15 athlete in the 2010 recruiting class and the nation's No. 142 overall recruit.
He signed with Oklahoma, but didn't catch a pass in two seasons.
This offseason, the Kansas native elected to come back home, but has been left in limbo while the NCAA decides whether or not to grant him a waiver from the required redshirt year after transferring. He requested one due to "extenuating personal circumstances."
He'll be a sophomore with three years of remaining eligibility when he takes the field; Kansas coaches have previously expressed confidence that he'll be granted a waiver.
Expect plenty of celebration in Lawrence if the coaching staff is right.
