Bradford sizzling as Sooners jump to early 21-3 lead

NORMAN, Okla. -- Sam Bradford's value as a quarterback was on display in a variety of ways.
Bradford marched the Sooners to a pair of touchdown drives to stake them to a 21-3 lead over TCU after one quarter. But he did it as much with his play-calling skills as with his arm in a masterful early start.
Not to say his passing left much to be desired. He torched TCU for 199 yards passing in the first quarter, breaking the school record for passing yardage in a quarter that was previously set by Jason White against Baylor in 2003.
TCU came into the game allowing 188 yards to lead the nation. The Sooners blistered them for 222 yards in the first quarter.
Bradford repeatedly picked on TCU's secondary on a variety of hot reads. One of them was a 24-yard strike to Juaquin Iglesias to account for a touchdown to cap the Sooners' first drive barely 2 minutes into the game. He later torched TCU's secondary on a 73-yard TD strike to Manny Johnson to punctuate OU's early offensive explosion.
As impressive as his passing was, Bradford repeatedly bamboozled the Horned Frogs with his mastery of the no-huddle offense.
TCU was drawn offside three different times in the first quarter as the Horned Frogs had trouble with Bradford's varying cadences. The Horned Frogs were penalized two other times because of having 12 men on the field. They were flagged eight times for 41 yards in the quarter.
