Tanner Brock and Deryck Gildon likely would have been the team's top two defenders, but both were kicked off the team. Shannon's got a big task, and not much depth to make it happen.

TCU will hire former University of Miami head coach Randy Shannon as linebackers coach for the 2012 season with an official announcement likely in the next few days, a source confirmed on Monday.
Shannon, who was fired by the Hurricanes following the 2010 season, takes the place of Tony Tademy, who resigned earlier this month.
