All of the major college football awards have released their preseason watch lists, but some of the lesser-known awards are still releasing their lists in anticipation of the season.
The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given annually to college football's best quarterback, released its preseason watch list and six of the 10 Big 12 teams had a quarterback on the list.
To be eligible, players must be a senior or a fourth-year player.
Here they are:
Nick Florence, Baylor
Seth Doege, Texas Tech
Landry Jones, Oklahoma
Collin Klein, Kansas State
Casey Pachall, TCU
Geno Smith, West Virginia
Nice list. A little surprised to see Florence crack the list, but if you read this blog often, you know I'm confident he's due for a big 2012. Still surprising to see him garner the preseason attention.
Colt McCoy of Texas was the last Big 12 passer to win the award, following Texas Tech's Graham Harrell, who won the award in 2008.
Stanford's Andrew Luck won the award last season.
