The Big 12 mostly looked good in Week 1, Oklahoma's close call aside. Nobody lost, and most won convincingly. What does Week 2 look like? Here's a bit of what you can expect.
Kansas State gets the highlight game of the week with what should be a fun game against Miami. The Hurricanes have already been tested, knocking off conference foe Boston College 41-32. Kansas State needed a late rally to run away from Missouri State, but this should be an interesting game. The Wildcats knocked off Miami on the road last year, thanks to a goal-line stand in the final seconds.
We'll finally get our first look at TCU, too. The Horned Frogs were off in Week 1, but open their new stadium against Grambling State on Saturday night. The school's Big 12 dreams have come true after being banished from the major conference following the breakup of the Southwest Conference in the mid-1990s. After playing in six conferences since, they're finally home. This game should be a stinker, but the significance will be enormous. Bottom line: Being in this league means infinitely more to the Frogs than it does to West Virginia, even though the Mountaineers are thrilled to be here.
Can Iowa State play spoiler once again? Iowa's no joke, but winning in Iowa City is a lot different than beating the rival Hawkeyes in Ames in triple overtime. The Cyclones are a four-point underdog, but this will be the Big 12's most impressive nonconference win this month if the little guys can knock off Iowa for the second consecutive season and the first time on the road since Seneca Wallace did the deed in 2002 with 361 yards through the air.
Upset alert? Texas State rolled over Case Keenum-less, Kevin Sumlin-less Houston, 30-13. Now, Texas Tech goes on the road to face the Bobcats, fresh off their first FBS win ever. The Red Raiders ought to be careful ...
Sad panda alert: West Virginia. The Mountaineers got off to a dream start to their season, but now have to sit through a bye week before taking on FCS foe James Madison in Maryland next week.
Who's going to lose? The Big 12 is undefeated for now, but how long will that stand?
