The polls are both out. Here's where the Big 12 teams sit heading into Week 5. Before we start, remember, the AP poll is not factored into the BCS. The USA Today poll is factored into the rankings, which will debut in mid-October.

Associated Press (media)

7. Kansas State
9. West Virginia
12. Texas
15. TCU
16. Oklahoma
25. Baylor

Others receiving votes:

32. Iowa State
34. Oklahoma State
37. Texas Tech

Good to see pollsters recognize the strength of Kansas State's resume compared to West Virginia. No doubt about it: The Wildcats deserved to hop every team in the Big 12, and did so in the polls. Kudos.

USA Today (coaches)

7. West Virginia
8. Kansas State
10. Texas
14. TCU
15. Oklahoma
22. Oklahoma State
24. Baylor

Others receiving votes:

29. Iowa State
34. Texas Tech

Oh, pollsters. How could you? The coaches kept West Virginia ahead of Kansas State. For shame. K-State's got the Big 12's best wins and looked good doing it, though they were sluggish at times against overmatched opponents Missouri State and North Texas.

Still, we've got tons of time to sort out the Big 12 race.

Seven teams in the coaches poll and nine teams receiving votes in both polls. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
