Is TCU a Big 12 BCS sleeper?

Colleague Travis Haney pegged his four teams who are quietly mounting possible BCS runs Insider, and in the Big 12, he's got one candidate.

It's the new guys: TCU.

The Frogs are 3-0 with victory over Virginia and Kansas, and Haney loves what the Horned Frogs have done offensively. Casey Pachall leads the way nationally in passing efficiency, and his passer rating of 209.92 is more than 18 points higher than any other quarterback in the country.

Meanwhile, TCU is giving up just 4.3 points a game, fewer than any team in the country.

That's quite a combo.

I've been impressed with what TCU's done this season, and the only touchdown it gave up was a rather meaningless late score in a 27-7 win over Virginia.

The six turnovers in the red zone in two games are a concern, but Haney makes a great point: With Oklahoma looking less and less like the Big 12 front-runner, it's a wide-open race and anyone can take advantage.

Statistically, nobody looks like they're in better position to do it than TCU. Can the Frogs seal the deal with a backloaded schedule, though?

Their depth will be tested in the final five games of the season, all against teams that have been or are currently ranked.
