Remember back when the Big 12 had a national reputation for all of the points being scored across the conference?

That's changed after Iowa State's stunning 9-7 victory at Nebraska on Saturday. It was almost like one of those gritty games my friend Chris Low sees so often over in the Southeastern Conference.

Not only did the Cyclones snap a losing streak in Lincoln that had stretched since 1977, but they did it without starting quarterback Austen Arnaud and leading rusher Alexander Robinson.

And they did it in one of the lowest-scoring games in Big 12 history.

ISU's triumph marked the ninth-lowest scoring game in terms of combined points in Big 12 history. It also marked only the second time in the conference’s history that both teams were in single digits. The only other time that happened came in 2005, when Nebraska produced a 7-6 victory over Pittsburgh.

This game wasn't nearly as enjoyable for Cornhuskers fans as that one. Four turnovers inside the Nebraska 6-yard line will do that.

Here’s a list of the lowest-scoring games in terms of combined points for Big 12 teams since the conference started play in 1996.
