Five Big 12 quarterbacks were among 16 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien Award, given annually to college football's top quarterbacks.
That's the most of any conference.
Here's who made it:
Seth Doege, Texas Tech
Nick Florence, Baylor
Geno Smith, West Virginia
Collin Klein, Kansas State
Landry Jones, Oklahoma
I'm a little surprised to not see David Ash on the list, based on his start, but making the cut to 16 players was tough. I'm a voter, and it took quite a bit of deliberation to narrow it down.
Still, a solid group, and all five are deserving. Klein, Jones and Smith should all be in the mix to win the trophy, which has been won by a Big 12 quarterbacks in three of the past four seasons and six times since 2003.
