Texas coaches wanted Cody Johnson to seize his chance at playing time.

The massive 250-pound tailback appears to have done that as his 20-yard touchdown run has given the slow-starting Longhorns an early 7-3 lead over UCF early in the second quarter.

The No. 2 Longhorns looked lethargic early.

Keenan Robinson was penalized on a third down for a horse-collar tackle on UCF quarterback Rob Calabrese.

Hunter Lawrence missed a 44-yard field goal on Texas' first possession.

Colt McCoy has completed nine of his first 11 passes. But until Johnson's big run, the Longhorns' offense was marked with too much sputtering.
