Daniel Thomas is showing why he's the best running back in the Big 12 -- even if he came to Kansas State intent on playing quarterback.
Thomas switched to tailback soon after his arrival. Kansas State coach Bill Snyder has been grateful since then.
Thomas accounted for 63 yards on the Wildcats' most recent drive, punctuating the possession with a twisting 5-yard touchdown run that extended KSU's lead over Kansas to 17-7.
On two of the plays, Thomas executed the Wildcat offense to perfection, racing for gains of 40 and 12 yards to produce key first downs.
The Wildcats are showing little on offense other than Thomas' running. They were forced to take two timeouts on the drive. The second stoppage made Snyder so angry that he spiked his headset to the ground.
He was happier a couple of plays later when Thomas scored to extend his lead to 10 points.
The Jayhawks needs a big drive to answer the Wildcats' first second-half score. Their season could be riding on it.
