The season is over and recruiting season is heating up, but teams will be back on the field before you know it.

Well, the practice field, anyway. Big 12 teams have finalized their spring practice dates, and here's when each team will be taking the field. Some dates are tentative, but here's when the Big 12 schedule starts.

BAYLOR
  • Start: March 1
  • Spring game: April 6
IOWA STATE
  • Spring dates to be announced.
KANSAS
  • Start: March 5
  • Spring game: April 13
KANSAS STATE
  • Start: April 3
  • Spring game: April 27
OKLAHOMA
  • Spring game: April 13
  • Other official practice dates still to be announced.
OKLAHOMA STATE
  • Start: March 11
  • Spring game: April 20
TEXAS
  • Start: February 21
  • Spring game: March 31
TCU
  • Start: March 1
  • Spring game: Still TBA. May not occur because stadium field is being redone.
TEXAS TECH
  • Start: March 24
  • Spring game: April 20
WEST VIRGINIA
  • Start: March 10
  • Spring game: April 20

Pretty standard stuff. The biggest difference to me? Texas Tech is moving its practice way, way back following Tommy Tuberville's exit. Tuberville liked to have spring practice very early in the semester so players had time to get healthy and get into offseason workouts without interruption. It also gave players longer to focus on school at the close of the semester. Kliff Kingsbury's doing it differently.

Just like always, Texas will kick off first. Such is the luxury of warm weather in Austin. Mack Brown likes early spring practice for similar reasons as Tuberville did. It also gives some additional leeway in case players are injured during the spring.
