The Final Four is set in stone, and those dastardly Gators had a rough day on Sunday and cost my bracket a second correct pick from the last four teams standing from the 68-team bracket. We'll get to that later, but here's how the standings sit entering next weekend's final three games of the college basketball season.
User "dewcat22" sits alone at the No. 1 spot with 870 points, but that bracket won't be there very long. Just like me, Florida let him down. He's in the 99.9 percentile on ESPN's bracket challenge, but had the Gators winning the whole thing.
He correctly picked Syracuse and Louisville, but his bracket has just 160 points possible remaining. The bracket in the best position to win is one presumably from a West Virginia fan.
BigMountaineerMike's bracket correctly picked three teams in the Final Four: Syracuse, Michigan and Louisville, and Mike has Louisville knocking off the Orange in Monday night's championship game. Strong effort there. My hat is off. That's nailing a four seed and a three seed, though his lone whiff was on Gonzaga, who was knocked out in the second round by Final Four-bound Wichita State, who I have yet to see correctly picked on a bracket. Maybe there's one out there in our group. Let me know if you've got one.
As for my bracket? My champion, Louisville, is the only team left on my bracket that could give me additional points. I'm feeling OK about being in the 63.3 percentile with 480 points possible remaining on my 610-point bracket. Winning is out of the question, but I made a nice move up the standings with some good picks this weekend. If only I'd nailed that Florida pick, though.
How's your bracket so far? See the full group here.
