Last season we began this exercise. Here's how we did last season. Not terrible, but certainly some room for improvement.
We'll move forward again this offseason by making preseason picks for every single game on the Big 12 schedule. By the end of it, you'll see our full projections for each team in the Big 12 in 2013.
Texas 28, Iowa State 27: The Thursday night atmosphere was an adjustment, and Iowa State sprinted to a 10-0 lead on what seemed like energy alone. The Longhorns' running game took a toll over the final three quarters, and a strong performance from the Longhorns front seven get them a win on the road that's a lot more quality than some might realize.
Texas Tech 31, Kansas 28: Another year, another almost disaster for the Red Raiders. Kansas shows off its obvious improvement in its Big 12 season debut, but Texas Tech drains a game-winning field goal in Lawrence to extend the Jayhawks' Big 12 losing streak to 22 games. Anthony Pierson scores twice.
TCU 24, Oklahoma 21: The Frogs go to Norman and do it again. TCU's defense forces three turnovers and Waymon James takes advantage with a go-ahead rushing score midway through the fourth quarter. The Horned Frogs' defense holds strong to seal the win.
Oklahoma State 41, Kansas State 30: K-State keeps the game closer than it feels by sticking to its running game and adding a late score after the Cowboys race to an early lead against a young defense. Clint Chelf has a career game with 370 yards and four scores.
Baylor 45, West Virginia 31: Baylor earns some revenge for last year's loss with too much offense in Waco. Lache Seastrunk breaks loose for 138 yards and a score, and Glasco Martin pounds in two more, adding 75 yards on the ground. That rushing attack prevents the Mountaineers from making this one interesting in the second half.
