Harris likely moving back to strong safety

Oklahoma defensive coaches are hinting that the move of strong safety Nic Harris to middle linebacker won't be permanent.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday that Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Bobby Jack Wright said that Harris had moved back to his original position after replacing injured starter Ryan Reynolds last week against Kansas.

"I don't know that we'll ever put him back there," Wright said. "We've worked him almost totally at strong safety this week."

The move of Harris to middle linebacker beefed up the Sooners' pass defense and helped control leading Kansas receiver Kerry Meier, who was limited to four receptions. But the Sooners struggled on deep balls as Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe torched them for school-record totals of 12 receptions for 269 yards.

Wright told the Star-Telegram that Austin Box likely would start at middle linebacker Saturday at Kansas State.
